As we all wait in anticipation to see exactly how much QLD will beat NSW by next Wednesday night we have 4 NRL matches to watch this weekend and, watch them, is what most smart punters will do.

Most of the teams are so different to their normal look and as I’ve said every week for the last month , State of Origin time is a very difficult time to punt.

Having said that we can’t let some opportunities pass and so I have found a couple of investment opportunities over the weekend which hopefully can put a couple of dollars in the Bank.

Now don’t think I’m mad and have me committed for this, and yes , I am breaking one of my Grandfathers punting rules of backing bad horses , but I am suggesting to back Parramatta with the 10.5 start Vs the Panthers. It is a strange thing about our game , that over the years certain local derby’s produce close games no matter where either team is situated on the ladder or what personnel runs onto the field and I have a suspicion that this game will be one of them.

Also to back this up , it is remarkable how many sides in recent times have returned from a thrashing one week to perform commendably the next, and I have a real feeling that this will be one of those games. And NO Mr Smithy its not because I have a soft spot for the Blue and Gold, I love a $$ too much for that. Price $1.92.

The other bet is Manly away to the Cowboys giving away 7.5 start is $1.92 but I suggest giving away 5.5 start at $1.62 is the safe option given they are away from home.

Manly are into a patch of 4 weeks which I am sure they were focused on winning all of the games against teams below them on the ladder , and it would have been a real focus from Mr Toovey as this period can really make or break their season.

So Parramatta at + 10.5 @ $1.92
& Manly at – 5.5 @ 1.62
multiplies out to $3.11 and there’s the trimmings for your Christmas in July for next week.

Good luck but go easy this week, remember its origin time.
